Wearing several academic and nonacademic hats, Dr. State’s work, experience, and interests are wide and varied.
An Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Montclair State University, she obtained her Doctorate in Special Education from Lehigh University. She teaches courses that focus on evidence-based assessment and intervention practices aimed at enhancing outcomes for all students, with a specific emphasis on students with academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs, and is a regular presenter at national and international conferences.
Her research and practice concentrate on reducing the research-to-practice gap in schools, with a goal to promote effective practices that empower educators to support all students. Her research interests primarily revolve around advancing the implementation and sustainability of multi-tiered systems of support frameworks, such as MTSS, RTI, and SWPBIS. Currently, her projects center on enhancing educator wellness as a mechanism to foster improved implementation and sustainability of evidence-based practices in schools.

Jamesburg has been home to Talida and her family since 2015. Surrounded by the beauty of flowerage and greenery that she lovingly tends to along with her husband, her home teems with the laughter and energy of her daughter. Talida enjoys baking and loves to relax in the company of friends and at the beach.
